The Safety Patrol program at Pinchbeck Elementary School is open to eligible 5th graders who meet specific criteria for grades and conduct in 4th grade. Students are trained at a special “safety camp” prior to the first day of school regarding the assistance that they are expected to provide to faculty, staff, administrators and bus drivers in keeping younger students safe arriving and dismissing from school on a daily basis. As a school has many hazards concerning transportation and traffic in the area, students are expected to assist teachers in providing safe arrival and dismissal routines for all students. Not only are safeties expected to provide help and guidance to younger students, but they are also expected to maintain exemplary conduct and work habits their entire 5th grade year in order to maintain their status as a Safety Patrol.
